Does Proxima b actually host life?

Hi!

I would like to share with you guys my brief analysis on the exoplanet Proxima b (first part is introduction to the main features of the planet and my opinion starts in the minute 1:20) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrzUIHlRegQ

What do you think about Proxima b and about my points?

Cheers!

I think that the radiation from Proxima B - an active red dwarf - would have likely put paid to any chance of life on Proxima b.

The star and planet are only 7 million km apart.

EDIT: The link points to a Youtube video, FYI...

Could you present your ideas here for discussion.
Or are you merely interested in getting utube exposure?

Absolutely implausible.

Centillion galaxies (can't think of a larger number right now, but close to infinity), with multi-centillion stars with multi-centillion planets, and yet life is unique on Earth?

There is always the old premise - "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!". Perhaps life on Earth is unique in so much as being carbon-based, and other lifeforms elsewhere use different metabolic and respiratory methods for life.

nop, im interested in debate!

my main idea is that, if proxima b has a good magnetic field and proxima centauri doesn't release flares too strong, proxima b could conserve atmosphere

if the atmosphere is less dense than the one of the earth (which is think is the most likely) in case it has atmosphere, then it could be liquid water and vegetation in the terminator

rather than my ideas, they are findings of the official research, I just explain them in a different way and organized the way I want

I like to ask because most of you probably know much more than me!

regards

I agree with you

I believe life may exist in a way we could never imagine.. like living beings breathing CO2, etc..
