So I finally got a chance to see it...I enjoyed it a lot. It was really odd to watch it so soon after the passing of Carrie Fisher, it brought back a lot of memories of watching the original trilogy.

yeah, great movie, far better than the last trashy one. Maybe coz most of the actors were british/Aussie (go BEN!!!)

But one main thing bugged me - with all their technical advancement, wouldn't they have invented small high capacity USB drives? or an internet thingy???

Totally agree,the thing was bigger than a 8 track car cassette from back in the 70's and you would have thought with the way technology is moving it would have been the size of your fingernail.

All said it is a fantastic movie

This is my review from a few weeks back on another forum:

Saw it tonight, meh.. 3.5/5 from this lad. I much preferred The Force Awakens - it felt more like Star Wars to me.

Positives:

I liked Cassian, Jyn and K2-SO.

Grand Moff Tarkin looked terrible imho - sorry, he just didn't look right to me in many of the shots. Leia looked better and pretty decent.

SFX was pretty good, but nothing ground breaking imho.

Soundtrack was terrible. Sorry, but I hated it.

Oh and the lack of a the text crawl at the start...terrible decision imho!

I'm a pretty big Star Wars fan and I'd rate this behind TESB, Ep IV and TFA.

Look, it wasn't bad, don't get me wrong. I just think it's been badly overhyped by people and isn't as good as what people are saying.

Movie felt a bit drawn out to me too. Script was reasonably good, character lines were well done and acting was fine.

I far preferred TFA to R1.

You gotta be joking right? Leia was hilarious, like some paedo's dream, so cartoon like. Tarkin was 90% there, imagine what theyll be doing in 5 yrs.

I hated the Farce Awakens, like some marketing exercise. Just my opinion tho!

My recollection of Leia at the end of the money was it was pretty damn accurate to the Leia in ANH. She was only seen for a split second. Tarkin just did not look right to my eyes in any of the scenes that he was in.

Oh well, I loved TFA, it had much more of a Star Wars feel to it than R1.

R1 has been very heavily hyped - nay, overhyped.
