Anyone want to build a scope

There are some mirror sets available here https://lco.global/sales/mirrorsets/
A little out of my price range but you can only dream.

I'd be tempted but the exchange rate and GST put the 2m just outside my price range.

Not worth the effort at 1m... Aperture fever demands excesses...

I nearly bought the 2m one but then I noticed its mass and I think my mount could complain a bit if I asked it to drive 1100kg plus...

We could all chip in a few bucks... or second, (third), mortgages. I have a dark site and access to an engineer to design it....

I've got an 8" f/9 with 0.997 strehl sitting in a box, waiting for a rainy weekend when I have time.

If the seeing is pretty ordinary and you're stuck in suburbia a big scope is pointless IMHO.

Good luck Kevin!

A 2m telescope's widest practical FOV regardless of f number is a 0.25 degree field at 300X magnification using an 82 degree field eyepiece.

I looked through a 40 inch scope many years ago. Very unimpressive.
