This is a nice refractor for visual use. It is a home made tube and mount with an Istar 5" f12 R30 lens. The optics are very good and it includes the following;
- William Optics 2" Crayford focuser.
- William Optics 2" mirror diagonal.
- GSO 40mm eyepiece.
- GSO 26mm eyepiece.
- GSO 2" barlow.
- GSO 50mm finder with quick release mount.
The tripod and mount are made in the style of Richard Berry and use dobsonian motions for simple and reliable point and view use and hand tracking. The altitude motion uses aluminium trunnion rings on Teflon bearings. The azimuth uses Teflon bearings on ebony star formica. The pivot bearing is an Astro Systems type with bronze bush and pre-drilled for DSC encoder (encoder not included).
I am selling it because I have too much astro gear and want to make room for other projects. Because it is large and impractical to send interstate I prefer to sell it locally in Perth WA. If you want the telescope tube only and not the tripod and mount then get in touch and we may be able to work out a deal. The scope would work well on an EQ6 or similar size equatorial.
