Thumbs up *Yaaaawn* That's better!

ahhh that tired feeling of 3.5 hours sleep because you were up way too late imaging Jupiter instead of sleeping!

Finally, after 5 weeks of terrible seeing and jetstream overhead, I got a break last night!

Went out at 9:30pm, eyeballing Jupiter through my 4.7mm Meade. GRS beginning it's transit.. Still too low but already I could tell the seeing was better than it had been, but certainly not great.

Went out again at 10:30pm, with laptop this time.. seeing wasn't great, but it was still better than the previous nights, so I started capturing.

A couple of avi's later, hmm.. that seeing is improving! Keep capturing.. a couple of avi's later.. wow! This seeing is looking really good!

17 avi's later, and the seeing turned out GREAT during the middle stages! It deteriorated again just around 12am, so I decided pack it in, but not before I captured some great data.

Here's a quick and dirty run through registax of one of the better avi's. I expect it will come out looking much better once I give it the spit and polish treatment.

Ok, all 17 avi's have had their "quick run".. hmm some nice data in there. A couple appear to be better than the one posted above.

Now to pick the best and do the full processing treatment.. argh who needs to do any work today!

Sorry Dave, I didn't use the extension last night.. by the time the seeing improved, and the extension was inside, I didn't want to stop capturing.. if you know what I mean!

I was so happy to be capturing good data again after such a long break, I didn't want to push my luck and have to re-focus, try and keep it in the FOV, etc. Will definitely try for it next time though

mike's thrown a tempter in a separate thread.....may have had some great seeeing.....coool can't wait......yes there is the threads.......moons, a quick sample.....excellent, lets open up the sample....wonder if he has had a chance to use the............

awesome mike, that has potential. gee the two storms are getting close.

pity you didn't get a chance, but i understand, when things are good, you don't touch things or even breathe.....

just wait until you throw it in and then things are 50% bigger!.

i have had either great seeing or clouds, but the extension tube stays in . it is easier to focus ie bigger image. I hanven't found myself thinking, well the conditions aren't good, so lets knock it back to 5x yet??

top stuff
