Jupiter 12th Sept. 2012

Seeing was the usual for this time of year in QLD but it's getting better as the jet slowly breaks up..

Can't see any evidence of an impact scar after Dan Petersen reported his observation on the 9/10/2012 at 11:35:30 UT.

The seeing didn't support it too well but this one @ F22 with a 30% resize.

Excellent images Asi - well done.

hope you don't mind me posting an image in your thread, but for your amusement, this is what the very best red channel looked like down here - stacked and sharpened. regards Ray

One more. F16 + a resize next to it with a more precise (less images used) stack than the above images.

Looks ok John, the dec angle must be better for you up there. It is something like 30 degrees here at the meridian and that means the trees in my back yard are having a fun time. Clayton is a bust too, so I might just be watching from the side lines this apparition. I got the email about the impact yesterday morning in the early hours but never bothered to image knowing rain and cloud were on the way and of course the above.

Thanks Paul. 42.5 degrees maximum elevation right now, but I shot this lot of data @ about 41 deg. as I knew I was going get clouded out. Hope you guys down south don't get sidelined for the whole apparition..

Thanks Trevor. Couldn't really say I was 'back at it' but I know what you mean. It's a nice little test sent to me to see how patient I am though..(seeing/jetstream/etc).

Yes Ivan, you guys will struggle even more than I, given our AU locations & Alt. of target.

Thanks Troy. Was nice to see that recent moon image from you mate
