Jet passing in front of the moon!

Hi all,

While photographing tonight's Moonrise from Mt Coot-tha I was lucky enough to capture this jet passing in front of the Moon. Hope you like the result!

Cheers,
Stephen

A great composition (well done on the timing!).

Also, shows the "Rabbit in the Moon" really well.

How exciting for you!!! Seeing it heading towards the Moon, the anticipation, is it or isn't it going to transit. And then the capture. woo hoo lucky you.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I'd seen the jet approaching about a minute before it reached the Moon, and was trying to work out if it would transit, which did generate a bit of excitement. Last time I had the opportunity to do this I mucked up the focus, so it was nice to get it right this time!

Here's a new version which I quite like - it puts the Moon in context.

Cheers,
Stephen

timed to perfection. Love how the engines vapor has created a distorted section of the Moon.

Thanks Steve!

I just checked on the Brisbane Airport website, and this was a Boeing 777, Emirates flight EK435 from Auckland.

Cheers,
Stephen
