A few Astrofest Nightscapes

Took these at the Queensland Astrofest.

All shots were with the 5D MkIII with ISO varying from 1600 to 6400. All shots were on a fixed tripod except for the zodiacal light that was taken on an Astrotrac. All shots were at 24mm (either the TS-E II or 24-105L).

Thanks to JJJ for dragging me away from the main field to find some nicer silhouettes

Nicely done Andrew, some great work there.

A bit of sharpening and compression artifacts but still looks great!

No real sharpening to speak of - just lots of compression artifacts trying to get under the 200kb limit when you start with ~30Mb RAWS I think I had to save most of these at around 50 to 60% quality.

They look a little better on Flickr if you want to check that out.

A lovely set of images Andrew. The Zodiacal light is my favourite too.

All crackers as I said before. I like the one with your dob, too. Captured the vibe of the night.
