My first attempt at the moon

This is my 1st attempt at photographing the moon, unfortunately I don’t have a DSLR or CCD camera I only have a cheap 2MP mobile phone camera which I used a focal with a 41 mm Panoptic, 2x Powermate on a 12” Meade LX200.

Just as I was setting up the neighbors up the road decided to light a huge fire to keep warm outside, it destroyed the quality of viewing, but I decided to have a go at a few shots of the moon anyway before I had to pack up from too much smoke.

I know they are a bit rough, I hope one day soon to have a real camera and have a real go at astrophotography, I have been considering starting with a DSLR either Canon EOS 550D or Sony Nex 5n or similar then an auto guider and EQ wedge or de rotator and field reducer ………etc, etc, $$$$....I think I will still need to wait a while. $$$$..

Thanks for looking.

Well they're excellent. Nice work. You don't need a DSLR.

Thanks for the encouragement, I tried again using Registax 6 to stack 20 frames from the mobile phone camera, it certainly makes a difference.
