Venus and Moon rising over Brisbane, 14/8/12

Hi all,

Having read about this morning's conjunction several weeks ago, I scouted around for a suitable location and came up with a spot in Taringa overlooking the Brisbane CBD. So I set the alarm for 3am and got there in time to see Venus and the Moon clearing a low cloud band on the horizon. I then shot an image every 3.5 minutes from 3:30am until 4:30am to capture the pair rising over the city.

The first image is the stacked exposures, and the second is a single frame. Hope you like the result!

Cheers,
Stephen

Thanks very much Mike, Andrew, Dennis and Greg! A fair bit of planning went into this image, so it was nice that the weather co-operated again!

Cheers,
Stephen

Yes, it's good when a well thought out plan is helped by the weather.
Nice one Stephen.

Dedication certainly paid off, excellent shots!
Would be interested to know what the "glow" in the bottom left hand corner of the shot is.

Thanks Adam! I'm not sure what that glow is on the horizon at the left, but it's always there. Must be an industrial area I think.

Cheers,
Stephen
