Did You Know

Did you know that the Month of July has 5 Sundays, 5 Mondays and 5 Tuesdays, and this will not happen again for at least another 820 years or so, so we will never see it again.

Just some trivial news

Leon

... or you could wait till December 2013 when there are also 5 Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays in the month! After that, March 2015, May 2016...

I think you were 'had' by that bit of news!

Problem is Ken, when you retire you lose all your weekends off, no public holidays, no annual leave, the pay is lousy and it's the same grind every day!

It's pretty easy to disprove.
Jan 1 can be one of 7 days.
It is either a leap year or not.
Hence there are only 14 patterns of dates for a calendar year.

One year in 4 is a leap year, so the pattern of days in the year would repeat after 28 years, except for the Gregorian century rules which make it repeat after 400 years.

In 400 years there are 401 months with 31 days where the 31st is a Tuesday. For July (and January, March and May) there are 58 such months. That is once every 6.897 years on average. August and October only have 56. December has 57.

I always allow myself to feel like a richer man on the months that payday occurs five times instead of four. Good excuse for a shopping spree!
