Low Latitude Photography

Hi I am just starting out in the hobby and have aquired a Meade LX200 8" ACF. I would like to get into the astrophotography side of things and deep space as well as solar system. On my enquiries I have found that to do this with an LX200 would require a wedge to compensate for rotation in longer exposers. The problem I have been told is where I live in Darwin the latitude is only 12' and this is not recommended for a wedge on this scope. Is there a solution to my problem to be able to enjoy long exposure photography. I currently have a Canon DSLR 18 megapixel camera but are prepared to purchase a CCD also if this would be a better option. Would like to hear any recommendations.

Most commercial wedges go from latitude ranges like 15-35, 25-60 etc, very few if any are made for latitude of 12, you could knock your own up

You'll have no problem imaging the planets as you're only shooting video.
Other than that, you will be limited to only shooting wide field, which is very satisfying in itself.
Can you piggy back your camera and lens to the top of the scope??
You should be able to get 1minute subs at least using a wide lens, up to 50mm.
