loveley, now you are firing. ring up micky and explain to her that dave reckons you are allowed to do two laps of the house strutting!!!

was this the whole lot stacked. like i said to ponders, mike has been stacking 100 and myself 200. might be worth a try.

what a few days for jupiter!!!

Hi Asi, another excellent shot, you're building up fast here with some great detail already . Jupiter is sure getting a workout... might give it another shake tonight but with the 7 inch. It needs a spell in the field.

I think I like these two versions the best. The first is how I like to see it in a photograph, & second: How I think its seen in my telescope at the eyepiece. (12.5" Parks Newt with a contrast booster on).

Thanks all for your comments, much appreciated. Now that I've found out a few secrets on how to image Jupiter, hopefully I'll get some better ones. (seeing permitting).

Asi, what did you do, that last one on the left is fantastic, lovely subtle swirls and muted tones

Hi Rob. On that image in question, I stayed away from astraimage & neatimage all together & did my usual thing in picture publisher (a list as long as your arm, but I can throw the proceedure on here if you really want to know?)

Oh, & I also restacked at 85% optimization in ver 2 registax rather than 90% giving me a few more frames so I could up the waveletts a bit more...I also took a page out of Dennis's book here & used 30-1 20-2 waveletts only, & then resized it smaller to make the grain less noticable.

Wow that last one is fantastic asi! Your best by a country mile!

It's funny how those 925's all seem to bring out a similar "looking" jupiter, in terms of colour, depth etc. All you guys that have one are producing similar great work.

Nice one!

Thanks Mike. I think it's my best too. On that one I simply hit it with #1 wavelett..bigtime....I gave it 80. All the rest were left at default value. I'm actually trying to get close to Dennis's look on jupiter. That crisp, finely focussed, almost steel-blue hard look. Huge image scale in the final image does not look good using this technique I've found. I've had to scale back a bit otherwise the course grain look overrides the detail. I could now go back through & reprocess AGAIN..!? ...........using this technique. This is so much fun!!!!!!!!

And cheers Davo.

Rob, I just wish I'd made the jump a lot sooner! Like before I purchased a 6" refractor?? Buy hey, I don't regret my actions in any way. It's all one big learning curve isn't it..
