fluid for cleaning my binocular lens

Good Day All,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if the bintel lens cleaning fluid has any detrimental effect on the rubber at the egde of my binocular lenses/eyepieces? Does it have any IPA in it?

Good question as i am interested also, in particular my lens for my 102mm refractor and the secondary on my Newt.

Hi guys , this does work well , but the secret is to use it ,
'SPARINGLY' ,
because if you drown the lense in to much , some might seep down in between the lenses , and that means pulling them out , seperating them and cleaning away the excess ..
That can be a recipe for disaster ,, so remember ,, sparingly.. OK .
A little dust is ok ,that needs blowing off first , or do you have finger prints ??? oops ..

I imagine it has an isopropyl base to it?

Was asking that because if it does I will try my best not to touch the edges or the seals.

isopropyl should be ok for the seals, its acetone you need to watch out for.

when cleaning i like to use (in this order)
windex
acetone (keep it away from the edges)
breath if needed with lens cloth

or if im lazy i use zeiss lens cleaning wipes

its the applicator you have to watch, make sure its soft & or wetb enough not to scratch

You can test this by performing the chemical analysis test in your own private chem lab facilities (your nose ).
Probably it does..
Windex also has isopropil, and works perfectly well.
