A Little Bike Skill...

Unfortunately I couldn't get to the 2 rounds of the World Trials Championship in Maldon last weekend, but my brother sent me this link showing Tony Bou playing with a couple of talented kids.

I thought a few people here enjoy it too.

That's awesome Al, thanks for the link.

When I was competing in trials riding in the late 70's that sort of stuff wasn't even thought of or even dare to try.

The skill levels today are phenomenal.

Yes. I was competing about the same time but only in club trials. Couldn't get a competition licence till 15 in those days.

Skills (and the bikes!) have changed a lot. Its great fun trying to learn the new skills on a relatively recent bike (Montesa 315R) after a 35 year break!

Good fun.

Great video, shame us old blokes can't aspire to reach that level.

You've got a Monty 315R Al?? Many many moons ago I had a Montesa 250 Cappra VR, a rocketship in it's day and beautifully built. I also dabbled in trials for a while in the late 70's

I'm just a little envious, how about some pics?

Here you go Phil. I don't have many photos of me on the Monty. These few are from just before I went on the Snowy Ride in 2010 while my brother was down.

As if trials riding isn't difficult enough... try doing it in long grass where you can't see half your obstacles! All good fun, that's the main thing! One of the hardest things to learn for me out of the new techniques so far has been the nose wheelie (or stoppie). That was so much a taboo when I was learning... but I'm getting better at it.

My older brother, Col, had a Montesa 123 when I was about 15 and it was just a perfect bike for a 15YO! Before that he had the original Ossa Mick Andrews Replica. I liked that a lot too.

And here's a few photos you'll prolly remember from when I first got it.

Thanks Bo.

Personally, I find it doesn't matter what it is... if someone can do something really well, its a pleasure to watch!

Nice looking bike Al.

I was just thinking my old 1976 Cota 247 looks like an elephant compared to yours.

Cheers
