Celestron Axiom 23mm UWA BRAND NEW IN BOX

Hi everyone,

I have just received a brand new Celestron scope that came with a Celestron Axiom 23mm UWA 82 degrees eyepiece. I have no need for the eyepiece so I am offering it for sale.

I am asking $175 plus postage. I will also ship overseas if necessary.

The link to the eyepiece is here:

http://www.ozscopes.com.au/celestron...eyepieces.html
and
http://www.celestron.com/c3/product.php?ProdID=459

If you want photos of this particular eyepiece then I will open the box and take pictures.

Thanks

James

Confused

The link to OzScopes you provided takes me to an eyepiece priced at $989 - Axiom 23mm 2". What sort of telescope includes an EP costing a grand? The Celestron link is to a 23mm EP marked "discontinued". Please advise.

Hi hbrow05,

This Celestron eyepiece has a 23 mm focal length giving you a slightly lower power view than your 20mm eyepiece. I am guessing your eyepieces are plossls?

However the real benefit of this eyepiece is the Ultra Wide Angle (UWA) 82 degrees field of view. This gives you a feeling of "space walking", or as I like to say "falling into the telescope" as the 82 degrees is so wide that you are immersed in stars.

Cheers

James

Hi Kev11 (Kevin),

This Eyepiece came with my Celestron C11 EdgeHD - a stunning 11" SCT! This scope retails for $5,800 in Australia - that's why Celestron can afford to provide a $600 eyepiece with the scope!

You will find this eyepiece cheaper in the USA if you can find a Celestron dealer prepared to export it to you!

Celestron are apparently not making Axion eyepieces anymore, hence it is now listed as discontinued. However brand new C9.25 and C11 EdgeHD's still come with Axiom eyepieces I guess until there is no more stock left - get in quick before its too late ;-)

I suggest you google reviews of this eyepiece for confirmation of its quality. From looking at the eyepiece in its sealed bag, it is beautifully made.

Less confused

Thanks James, that makes sense now. All the best with your marvellous new scope!
Through you to Jeremy: one has to "choose option" on the OzScopes site to get the price for each eyepiece. The 7,10 & 15mm 1.25" are indeed $619, but the 23mm which is 2" comes up at $989.
This makes James' price very attractive, alas I do not yet have a 'scope to do the EP justice.

Heavy ep

This Celestron uwa is a massive and heavy ep and is as big as they come.
Also malice by Jinhua Optics in China, the majority share holder of Explorer Scientific and also the source of Meade and ES ep of 82 Deg fov.
Indo not have an ep with such a wide fov which some claim is equivalent to doing a space walk.
I have a Hyperion with 69 fov..which I could try one with 82 deg!
Good luck James....

Celestron uwa 23mm

Optcrop in USA selling this for $239 plus $50 shipping.
Local price is way over our head!
And yes, Jinhua Optics is the owner of Explorer Scientific after buying over the US company and make the 82 fov ep for ES, Celestron and Meade.
