Hello from new forum member

Hi all,

Just like to say hello... I have a keen interests in astronomy since I was a little kid. Just bought a Meade LX90 8" recently, and have been experimenting with it in the past 3 months, mostly from my backyard in Sydney, which has severe light pollution problem.

Checking out the star parties forum to find a chance to get to one of these dark sites to really observe the sky.

Don't forget the IceInSpace AstroCamp at the end of October! A great place to come and meet fellow amateurs and look through all types of equipment.
You'll learn heaps!

Hi Victor,
Depending on where in Sydney you are, the "Pony Club" at Mangrove Mountain could be a good place for you to come and see some relatively dark skies close by.
It is just 15 minutes from leaving the Sommersby exit, off the northern end of the F3.
It is on the Saturday closest to New Moon each month, and may be Saturday before and/or after as well, depending on interest and weather.

If you adjust your Members Page to show your Suburb, I am sure someone will let you know if there is something closer for you.

No memberships are involved in viewing at the "Pony Club".
All are welcome.
Just watch the star parties forum for the next gathering and turn up.
You will be most welcome.
You don't even need to bring a scope as there will be many people happy to share their views with you.
But bring WARM clothing, multi layered.
