Depending on where in Sydney you are, the "Pony Club" at Mangrove Mountain could be a good place for you to come and see some relatively dark skies close by.
It is just 15 minutes from leaving the Sommersby exit, off the northern end of the F3.
It is on the Saturday closest to New Moon each month, and may be Saturday before and/or after as well, depending on interest and weather.
If you adjust your Members Page to show your Suburb, I am sure someone will let you know if there is something closer for you.
