AVI and Sound out of sinc.

Any one know why the sound would go out of sinc with a AVI file,?? All starts out ok then it goes out of wack like a dubbed Japanese Movie. I can slide the process bar in the movie viewer back and forth to fix the sinc problem but it will happen again after a short time. Problem is still there even when playing the file from a cd and not from the hard drive. Could it be a heat problem,?? or cpu lagging?? Any ideas out there..???

The most likely causes are either bad/damaged headers or timestamp errors, do the following and it may fix it.

Open the file in VirtualDub.

If it gives a warning, click OK.
Set video to ''direct stream copy''
Set audio to ''full processing mode''
Save it as .avi

Hopefully then your audio sync issues will be gone.

I tried this and the program wont open the file. As i am not to good with computers, i don't understand what the error message means what VirtualDub comes up with when i try to open the file. Gyess its back to the drawing board again.

You do not have the required codec installed, according to the error you need the Xvid codec. Download the Xvid codec and install it then run VirtualDub again.
