Imaging plan for tonight
Long time since I posted anything here.
First opportunity in a very long time to do some AP, and I'm looking forward to it. Weather forecast is clear. Plan on shooting Antares, Rho Oph area widefield - Canon 1000D (aps-c), 200mm lens (320mm effective) - Astronomik CLS-CCD filter - outer suburban sky?
I would be most happy of feedback on the methodology below.
Mount is set up ready to go, except for accurate Polar align.
Unguided - Tak EM-200B - old but reliable.
3 - 5 minute exposures, iso 800, f/3.2
Dithering - spiral, adjusting RA and DEC manually with hand paddle - I expect that this will be a little rough but effective enough for widefield.
Frame total will be about 2.5 hours - hopefully more, plus bias, darks, flats - I figure that dew or fatigue will be the limiting factor.
Does this sound like a reasonable plan? Thanks Rowland.
