Field size

Hi All,

This may be silly question so hear goes, how do I work out field size of my images taken with 10" rcx f/l 2032mm camera sx h9c and a wo zs80IIed f/l 640mm camera sx h9c, if you need any more info just ask.

You need the focal length of the telescope (2032mm) and the size of the chip in the camera in mm and pixels. I don't recognise any of the other parameters you have given.

You can then enter these values into the ocular module of stellarium and it will calculate the FOV and display it on screen.

Of course Stellarium is not the only program that does this. Most planetarium telescope programs have a similar calculator.

I wouldn't be without this little program. http://www.newastro.com/book_new/camera_app.php

Though you can't set pixel sizes in 0.05 micron increments. eg the SXVF-H9 has a 6.45micron pixel and CCDCalc only allows 6.4 or 6.5.

for your RC CCDCalc gives an approximate fov of 11.2x15 arcmin
for your 80ED 35.7x47.8 arcmin

SXVR-H9 1392x1040 pixels of 6.45 microns

RCX400 2032mm + SXVR-H9
6.45*206.265/2032=0.65 ASP
15.2x11.3 arcmin

ZS80iiED 640mm + SXVR-H9
6.45*206.265/640=2.08 ASP
48.2x36 arcmin

Paul, the CCD Calc I have accepts 6.45 for the pixel size. Version 1.5.0
