Coma

Hello all,

Is a coma reducer a must for AP through a 8" newton f5 @ prime focus. Is cropping the edge of the frame an option to cut out any visible coma.

I have recently cut my tube to get the dslr in focus, adding this will probably throw it out again im guessing?

Thanks,
Dan.

Hi Dan,

If you're not willing to buy a coma corrector (yet), you could get by with a barrel distortion correction plug-in (I know the GIMP has one, as does StarTools). I've had some very good results with those.

Cheers,

Thanks heaps for that, at least for now I can use that to tire me over. I'll just have to wait and see how bad the coma will be when I get out there.
