Smile Celestron Celestar C8 Deluxe SCT and hard case and accessories Adelaide $950

Hello,

Located in Adelaide.

This telescope has been much loved and much used, for observing, star parties, astrophotography etc. and I'm sad to be selling it. I am asking $1000 for it and all the extra accessories.

It's in good condition for its age and the optics are perfect. There are some small dings on the wedge, and the tripod has obviously been well-used, but it's all in good working order.

There are RA and DEC motors, and a hand controller, but the telescope is not goto. The RA motor can be set to track stars, the moon or the sun, and has PEC (Periodic Error Correction) for long exposure astrophotography. The motors can be driven by internal batteries or by an external 12V car or bike battery.

There is a good description and specifications here http://www.company7.com/celestron/products/sch6.html

The telescope comes in a Celestron hard case. It is made of Ultra High Impact structural copolymer that makes it extremely strong and durable. Its 1/4" (6.4 mm) neoprene o-ring and ABS latches seal perfectly and includes an automatic purge valve for quick equalization after changes in atmospheric pressure. The case is lined with die cut high-density foam for custom fitting. It features large handles and is equipped with wheels, for easy transportation.

Included:

Celestron Celestar 8" Deluxe SCT with Fastar capability.
Celestron Celestar Deluxe Tripod.
Celestron hard case.
C8 dew shield (fits to the front of the OTA).
Celestron 9x50 finder scope.
1.25" optical back.
Eyepiece hood.
Celestron star diagonal.
Meade 2x tele-negative.
Remote hand controller.
External battery power cable/clips and extension.
Original documentation/instruction manual.

1.25" eyepieces:
6mm ortho, Japanese, make unknown
9.7mm Meade Super Plossl
15mm Meade Super Plossl
25mm Celestron Kellner
26mm Celestron Plossl
For those of you in the know, the original C8 Deluxes all came with a software bug in the PEC (Periodic Error Correction) chip (the recording time was not the same as the period of the worm drive). I wrote to Celestron and got them to send me the updated chip. This is installed and the PEC function now works properly.

I'm located in Adelaide and would prefer to sell locally, though shipping wouldn't be such a big problem with the hard case. Inspections are welcome.

Regards,

Steve
