BINTEL service

People are always very quick to complain to a shop if the service is bad, but no one seems to think it necessary to comment if the service is great. I was just down at BINTEL in Melbourne ordering a Meade Lightbridge 12" and I was treated to a Coffee (Real not instant), a bisket, and a good chat. For anyone in Melbourne BINTEL is the way to go. Great service, Great products, Great Prices!

No-one!!! Bit of a bold statement there Geek!

Whenever I get good service I ALWAYS mention it to the staff person involved, and on some occasions I have rang the company and mentioned the excellent service I recieved from their employee. I also recommend to others by word of mouth.

As we are in an asto site, an astro example: When my 12" dob arrived from Andrews I rang him to let him know it arrived in one piece and thanked him for the assistance he gave me. Then I emailed a letter of thanks. I also placed good feedback in here for him.

I quite happily do this for anyone that gives me good service and will continue to do so. Fish & Chip shops, supermarkets, car yards, etc.

I know several other people who do the same. So, it's not a matter of 'no-one' doing it. Maybe just no-one you know.

Yep, and I have read many, many, many, many, many, many good comments about other suppliers too in here.

Don't know where the 'No-one' comes into it!

Couple of recent threads:

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ead.php?t=6212
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ead.php?t=5610

But besides, most of us who have dealt with Bintel recommend them to newcomers because of their service, which is even worth paying a little extra for over the heavy discounters.

I'm glad you got good service, too, Astrogeek! The thing is that I have never heard anyone complain about the way they were treated by Bintel. Only !

BTW, if you don't see the joke in my earlier post on this thread, it's cos you missed the December issue of the Bintel newsletter. Check out Mike's post:

Well maybe not no-one, but it is true that there is always more fuss made about someone being mistreated (or someone who feels they've been mistreated) by a dealer. I remember a 200+ post long thread being deleted not so long ago because a dealer was threatening legal action. You'd never see that kind of attention being paid to posts about having received good service. But that's the way it is. A disaster story will always attract more attention than a good news story.

Human Nature Steve! Sad isn't it. At least those that get good service let us know.

Get bad service and we are 'Bombarded' with complaint stories

More often than not you hear the bad stories. Good to see that people here also give positive feedback

I have not bought anything of Bintel (yet), BUT (and thats a big but babe!) I was really impressed with the response I got from them when I made a purchasing enquiry about a Meade ET125AT/PE I was considering at the time. They were the only timely, comprehensive email response I received from several (who shall remain nameless) enquiries I sent out. I followed this up with a 'phone call which was answered by a courteous, knowlegeable person (sorry I can't remember his name) who offered great advise. I was impressed.

After copious amounts of procrastination I decided on a "dob with a gob" and ordered a GS 12" from Andrews. The only reason I didn't buy from Bintel was because I feel I know enough not to need the level of prep that Bintel put in before shipping the scope. (Plus Andrews freight from Sydney to Tas was much cheaper) I decided to take the punt and put the money I saved into aperture and EP's and bought from Andrews. If I were the cautious type I would have paid the extra and bought from Bintel because of the professional way I was dealt with by them.

I had a similar experience with Aquila Optical (AOE, www.aoe.com.au). I pestered them about telescopes and accessories, email after email, and they answered every query in detail without pressuring me to buy anything. (and I didn't buy anything. much later I bought some minor accessories.)

AOE and Bintel are the two standout dealers in my experience so far. Although I had more limited experience with Frontier Optics (www.frontieroptics.com), I found them (Daniel in particular) excellent too.

I have had a couple of bad customer service experiences with Bintel Sydney myself.

Could you believe that when I rang with credit card in hand saying that I wanted to buy an ED80 from them, the lady told me, "im busy, order it off the website."
