Very nice. You're getting some good detail there considering your setup is very similar as mine. I can't get this detail yet as I was trying out the Neximage (2nd hand one) which I think has the same CCD chip as the Philips. I'm assuming you're getting raws in the AVI? I found my Neximage was a shocker (turned out it was compressing each frame in the AVI) but had good results from my 40D in AVI capture.

May I ask how many frames and what software you used to capture??

Well done,

Darrin...

Thank's Darrin,
It has taken me a while to get this far, still a long way to go
I am using QCFocus for the capture and wxAstrocapture to set the exposure. These are not RAW but should be uncompressed (at least that's the compression setting I use in QC)
This shot uses 200/2100 frames.
Sorry to hear about the Neximage, if only we knew then what we know now.

The Neximage should do better from all my research so I'm probably not using it correctly yet. What frame rate are you achieving? I'm lead to believe this particular CCD can only achieve 5fps in uncompressed form. Any higher, and (well for the Neximage anyway) it will compress the video.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers,
Darrin...

Good job Clayton, some nice detail for sure. Maybe just a tad burnt out in the EZ but overall a most creditable effort.

Cheers

I think just getting out and playing with your gear is well worth it. Personally I don't know what I'm doing different, but my results have improved over time I think like many things in life practice makes better
I am able to capture at 10fps without any compression (as far as I know)

Thanks Trevor,
The histo was a bit full (particularly the Red channel) and I didn't leave enough headroom for Post processing
My earlier AVIs were OK but when the seeing improved I upped the scale a bit and took a guess with the gain
