Not showing in Perth

I found someones blog out there on the interweb:
"What the hell kind of world is this where garbage like Jackass 3d and Street Dance 3d will be getting releases in IMAX here, but something as potentially transcendant, important to humanity, and awe-inspiring as Hubble 3d won't be screening in Perth?"

Sad.

These days Dance shows and people harming themselves and others is appropriate culture for the masses, Simon.

Just Seen It

Hi all,

I've just come from a preview session, thanks to my teacher wife!

WOW!!!

The fick gives a run down on the working life history of this telescope, from its on-Earth completion, through its various upgrades and repairs, to its present configuration and performance.

Seeing a shuttle launch in 3D, from the vantage points granted to Imax is extraordinary. One scene shows the tremendous thrust of the shuttle's own engines as they throttle up at lift-off, trying their best to rip the 'flying brick' off the back of the external tank! Oh, did I mention it's LOUD!

The documentary contains a lot of the technicalities involved with the scope's maintanence. For all the practice the astronauts do preflight, there is still a place for the good old "Don't Argue" bit of muscle.

Needless to say the imagery form Hubble is amazing.

I'm so looking forward to seeing this.

I saw the ISS imax film a few years ago (three times) and the 3D views of earth from the station were gobsmacking.

Finally got to see this in Melbourne today. Fantastic. Most powerful imagery of a space shuttle lift off that I've seen. And brilliant views of the Earth. I did think one of the astronauts was going to land in my lap at one stage.

I could have done with more of the Hubble images converted to 3D.

went for it yesterday. mindblowing.
the opening where the astronauts suit up, felt like we were right in that room. flythrough's were amazing, had to literally look in all directions to take in the scenes as it was so immersive.
now i can understand why the astronaut said that every time he saw this movie, brought back the experience of being there.
cant wait to see it again with the family.
