Jupiter with shadow, not much else.

Got a shadow but not much else the other night. I had my brightness set too high and this meant I was under exposed on my shots. Anyway you get the drift, shot at f20 and reduced video resolution 320 x 280. About 1200 frames at 15 frames a second (think I need to drop the frame rate) and only shot for 90 second. This I am told is the best thing to do, no longer than 90 seconds.

Still happy to get a shadow.

Comments on experience with toucam settings would be really appreciated.

I guess everyone's different but my gain is usually set about half or just a bit either way, with brighness set around 60 - 75 % until I can see a clear image. Saturation is around 65 - 85%. Auto white balance off until I've finished the other settings then on for 5 sec or so then off again to freeze. Then take the image

The faster the exposure rate with the same fps rate the darker the image I've found. The hardest thing I'm finding now is how best to balance out the fps and the exp rate. It can be a real juggling act. I find I end up taking maybe a dozen or more shots using slightly different settings on each night. The down side is a lot of processing time. Now that I'm back at work I'm glad I found about WcCtrl. I can now save settings now, and weed out the ones that aren't as good.

Hope this has helped.

BTW you are taking your hartman mask off aren't you. I've done that once or twice.

Ice put me onto it first. Its a program that allows you to adjust your ToUcam settings (or any webcam even LPI) without using the default ToUcam dialogue box. It has numerically graduated sliders and allows you to save up to six differenct sets of settings so you don't have to write them down or remember them. I'm wrapped in it.

I think it was Europa. Not sure though, did not have Jupiter 2 at the time.
