Well done!

I would be interested in hearing your opinion of the certificate course.

Cheers

John,

I thoroughly enjoyed the course which has now finished.

For me it was the right mix of stellar theory and maths. Not much on the Solar System but then when observing at night I spend more time looking at stars, clusters and the like rather than the planets. I've signed up for the Advanced University Certificate in Astronomy which is a couple of second year subjects.

Fun!

And it keeps me off the streets!

Cheers,
Mario

Well done Mario, definitely a feather in your cap.

That website looks interesting as well, I'll have to check it out further. It will give me something to do on those cloudy nights.

Cheers

Very nice Mario. What are the prerequisites for the Astronomy course?

As it is basically a first year university subject I would assume the completion of year 12 level subjects would suffice.

As I'd already done a university course in Geology there was no drama for me enrolling.

And the best part is that it only costs around 380 pounds which is around the $640 mark at the moment. From my investigations that is much cheaper than a comparable course here in Australia.

Cheers,
Mario

Hi Mario. For a mature age student, I imagine that a tertiary qualification would be acceptable RPL? How challenging was the maths?

Rowland,

I would think a tertiary qualification is fine. The maths consisted of basic formulas and trigonometry. Nothing too demanding, just a lot of calculations with very, very, very big numbers or very, very, very small numbers!

Cheers,
Mario

Rowland,

The next academic year starts this September and you need to be enrolled by August (I think!).

Cheers,
Mario
