david malin

went to a talk by david malin the other night on galileo and he showed some excerpts from his books some amazing sketches which as he described would've been extremely difficult by candlelight and having to put out the candle each time he looked through the telescope and then light the candle again to do his sketching by memory. he sketched the moon, jupiter, jupiter's moons and a not-so-good sketch of saturn. but it was brilliant to see that and also brilliant to hear professor david malin speak. it was part of a show of some astro-photography that readers here would know about. all at our magnificent new science exchange building in adelaide.
