Linden Observatory added to State Heritage Register

Hi all.
For your attention.

The work and legacy of Ken Beames has been recognised by the NSW Govt by adding his Linden Observatory site to the State Heritage Register. The Linden Observatory is in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.
The heritage listing also protects 40 acres of surrounding bushland so that man-made lights don't interfere with night-sky observations.

For those who don't know, Linden Observatory is where the Western Sydney Amateur Astronomy Group meets for observing nights.

The article that appeared in print also mentions Brett White-a member here-and his two supernovae discoveries from Linden

You must have a good backyard!
We are lucky here to be able to use the site. Eastwards towards Penrith and Sydney, the skyglow can be quite atrocious.
