Incoming storms to S/E QLD :D
Im sure most people that this will effect already have it noted but I am awaiting them with great vigilance, from what i can see on radar they are slow moving but large.
So if anyone is planning on taking a walk around Brisbane, make sure you get it wrapped up soon lol

I've got lots of lightning to the west of me. I have my camera at the ready if it gets any closer.

It's these slow moving storms that do the most damage.
ooooh, here we go, the wind has just dropped and I just had a strike nearby.
the wind stops, only to come back with a vengeance a couple of seconds later.

Take care all.
Quick question: which settings work best for lightning pics?
I'm thinking of using ISO 100 ....and setting an exposure of about 25-30 secs....with an aperture around f7.1-8...
Can't wait. Looks like some juicy stuff heading toward Wynnum

I'd go only 10 or 15 seconds Matt. The sheet lightning plays havoc with the exposure and can wash out your pic.
Don't forget to turn your ICNR off.
Have fun getting it in focus.

ICNR is off!!!!
Switched over to Manual focus..

I'm such a woose when it comes to big electrical storms.
They scare the willies out of me.
I won't even stand near the windows.

Take it easy up there you banana benders. I just had a look at the bom and it looks like an absolute cracker of a storm on a huge front.
Stay safe.

And here comes the rain.
Wonder how much we'll get?
Looking at the radar, there's a big chunk of orange heading towards Kilcoy.

I’m already hiding under the bed!
My best experience was high on Mont Blanc in an electrical storm and for safety’s sake we couldn’t ditch our metal ice axes. I almost converted to religion that night! Luckily it was only a very mild, passing storm as I didn’t have a change of undies!
Cheers

Dennis,
I had a near miss when I was much younger than I am now.
Lightning struck only about 4 feet away from me.
It knocked me off my feet and my ears hurt so much from the noise.
Then in 1981 I think it was, I went through the Brighton hailstorm. Hailstones so big that no one would believe you, unless they went through it too. Joh Bjelke toured the area and pronounced it a natural disaster. So much hail they needed bull dozer's to shift it off the roads.
My neighbours chooks all died, stripped of all their feathers by the hail, our horses had whopping great bruises on their backs.
So, no, I don't like storms much.

I remember when we lived in Eungella about 80klm west of Mackay. And we had to collect rainwater for our only water supply and the gutter off the roof was missing the tank and we were standing there with a broom holding the spout over the tank when lightning spot welded it in just the right place.

No fair....
It's circling south of me
I was hoping for some serious action. I knew parking my car undercover would spoil it
