Oh My! Really Wild Weather...

I started my morning news review and found this from the Associated Press:

"As if torrents washing through homes and sweeping away furniture wasn't scary enough. Authorities in storm-battered northeastern Australia warned residents Wednesday to beware of crocodiles roaming the floodwaters covering large parts of Queensland."

I move away from Australia and the weather goes nuts!

Hope everyone is staying safe and dry in what sounds like an extraordinary situation...

Its crazy. I wouldn't be surprised if there are parts of australia getting spring and autum also. I used to love summer and the storms, now we just get the heat and bugger all storms. Can't wait for winter to rock up.

Wild all right Scott, we've had several days of 40 plus temps here down in Tassie, Summer temps here usually peak in the low 30's. Scary stuff.

I wonder why no governments over the decades have thought of building a pipeline from northern QLD to the southern states?

Apparently Melbourne could reach 45 degrees again tomorrow.

Plenty of thinking, but that's a very long way and over mountains! Cost is the only problem, I would imagine.

Saw something like this on the news the other night.... a street in Melb or somewhere, where all the tree's think its Autumn, they're already sheading yellow/orange/red leaves.

That's actually because these trees have been literally fried, so the leaves are dead and dropping off. I see many decidious species around here aswell are now discoloured and shedding leaves.

Some truly stunning temps excpected tomorrow.

Renmark is going for 48ºC

one for the ages!

Big Elm here dropped a full limb Thursday, took out a neighbours power (and the rest of the street for an hour) Had the road closed for half the day till they cleared it and fixed the power lines.

I watched the SkyAustralian News last night from the comfort of New Zealand . So I see it is as bad as you all say. Looks like a hot weekend for you Southerners. I Can't imagine 48 degrees pgc hunter. That's hot!!!

The water needs to be a bit more evenly spread out and sent down south.

Hope you all do all right

Thinking of you all

Cheers

Gary

warming up really quickly now. 35C at 9.30am.

39 degrees in renmark at 9am, looks like that 48 is within reach...

Meanwhile, Ingham in QLD has had 770mm of rain so far this Feb, ontop of 1053mm in January!

Golly Gee Willikers. Boy the temperature in Remark is rising fast than an asymptotic giant star on an H-R Diagram ! Just look at your forecast! Didn't get below 30C last night, and they predict 9C on Wednesday/ Thursday morning. Next you might need the woollens if you are going to observe on that night!

Looks like Melb hit a new record 45.7.Yeah and that Avalon one, is epic. Now hit 47.3 OMG

It's that hot, I went outside with no shirt on for a few minutes, and the stinging that was there, you would have sunburn in about 5-10 minutes.

Hey Enchilada, can I use that as my quip / sig?
