Short M16

Hi All

First clear night in Perth for a while so I went out to try my Thousand Oaks Dew Control and DewNot Heater. Didn't start 'till fairly late for m16 and only got 5x6minute shots before it was out of my view.
Happy to report the Dew Control works great, it was a really cold night ( 1 degree at 6am apparently ) I packed up at 5am with no sign of moisture on the FLT110. The same couldn't be said for the observatory roof etc and surrounding lawns. Haven't felt so cold for a long time.
Anyway here is the quick M16 shot just for the sake of posting an image after such a long time it seems. I used my 1.25" Baader UHC-S and UV/IR filters with the ST2000XCM camera mounted on the WO 2" Quartz 1/15 Wave Diagonal ... no field flattener ... not ideal but it worked.

Gotta looooove dew control...

Good looking M16 for what you call a "quick" attempt... (I cant wait to get an M16 like that!)

Good to see you're getting plenty of light into that FLT110

Nice one Steve, I too like the colour just right I reckon, and plenty of detail, well done indeed.

I wish I could get more clear nights to do more Alex, the weather is not being very kind to us here in the West. I reckon M16 needs at least an hour of exposure to start doing it justice, probably two hours. There's always next year I guess and by then I will have dark skies .

Thanks Leon, it's getting a bit late in the season now to be getting a lot of data on M16 ay. We'll soon be putting up with daylight saving again too ... my pet hate !

Looks rather erotic. Nice shot Steve. I don't seem to have much luck with this object.

Whatever turns you on Craig I didn't intend it to look pornographic.
It's sitting right over the city skyglow from where I am now so it's getting harder to get any useful data.

Thanks Andrew, it could have done with a lot more data. Thanks for the pm, I must be getting a bit senile.
