assistance needed with finding mosaic aligning program

I just took an AVI file of the moon, but as my telescope lacks tracking, it is a video of the moon passing by.

I was wondering if there was any program that would allow me to make a mosaic from my video, so i can use all of the frames, and possibly increase the details. I tried using registax, but all i got was a pathetic tiff file that is worse looking than the individual frames.

You'll need to split your avi up and process each section of it, and then make a mosaic.

Each avi split would be be enough frames to cover just one section. because it's continually moving, you'll only be able to process the centre of each section and the edges will be rubbish.

It might be easier to just save the avi as individual bitmaps and use a mosaic program to stitch it together. You won't be stacking any frames so you won't be able to process it much, but it might be ok.

Use virtualdub to save the avi as bmp's.
