A Panoroma of Monument Valley

This picture was taken last year during a visit to the US last year. When Gary Kopff and I got to Keyenta we didn't think we would get to see much at all as a huge storm mooved into the area. by pure luck as we drove past a part in the clouds allowed us to take the first pic. As time progressed the gaps in the cloud got bigger and the light for photography got better and better. The second shot was taken about 30 minutes before sunset and the dark clouds seen in the background was the remenants of the storm. the day started about 30 deg and by the time of the second photo it was about 5 with aq VERY stiff cold wind. But what a place to photograph.

The first pic looks so layered, like sediment in sandstone - the foreground shrub, the shrub on the next hill, the shrub in the far hills under a cloud for a different darker colour, the rock formations, and the stormy clouds. Interesting photo.
