A blurry Mars with a little newt!

Hi guys,..
Well this my first attempt at a planet with the toucam!
The skies actually cleared up a little after all those storms came through last night. Was a tossup between some deepsky or have a go at Mars.
Decided on Mars as there was a good possibility of low cloud rolling in or fog.
Worked out good as a bit later low cloud came and went!
Seeing was, well Mars looked like a bowl of jelly for the first 1-1/2hrs but finally steadied enough to get to half descent avi`s about 2 min each.
Here`s the result from those videos.

Well I am quiet happy with my first attempt thou its no mike or bird or Matt`s shot..but its a start!..

Well, that is an “out of this world” image of another member of our solar system – well done, especially for a first time effort.

The image stands up very will given the specs of the capture system, Id be very happy with that as a 100th attempt, let alone 1st.

Colour looks good and there's detail there. You've captured the North Polar Hood and Syrtis Major.

You've done well considering the aperture you are working with and the conditions you describe.

Keep in mind I'm using a 9.25" scope and Mike's newt is 12".

So...your image is quite an achievement

Thanks Dennis for that, well it took 20 Avi`s and a few hours of waiting but I am happy with my first Mars..

Its not the scope to image planets but its all I have and I had fun too!
Done some more last night and they are much better again..
Getting the toucam settings just right really helps with the details for sure...

Nice job! Plenty of detail there, you should be happy - especially as it's your first shot with a new camera!

A 6" with a 5x powermate is going to take some steady seeing to get the most out of it. You've done well for the conditions, Gary!

he's a pretty good imager too!

I wan't around for Birds first Mars, but you definately have set a very high level.....mine was no where as good as this..............you have mentioned a 5x powermate..........welcome to a never ending chase for better and better images.

keep asking questions, lotsa wise and friendly planetary heads around here
