Angry Another disaster on Ebay.

Just found this scope on Ebay and send the seller an message about it.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-114MM-X-5...QQcmdZViewItem
It looks like the solar filter screws into the eyepiece
Just hate when these kind of filters pop up.

every second scope sold on ebay would have one of those filters included.
its suprising that they are allowed to manufacture them.
i also sent them a message, hopefully they dont ignore it

That should be a crime as it is endangering someones sight who unfortunately buys the scope with the attachments and believes if it came with the scope it is safe to use on the sun. Plain stupidity on the makers part for even manufacturing them.

My newtonian came with one of those screw in filters but at least the lady at the "australian geographic"told me not to use it just throw it away. Not once but 3 times while doing up paperwork. For being new at this astronomy i probably would have used it. I thought there would be some sort of standard for that sort of thing here in australia

Should invested in an eye patch and than sue the ass of anyone who sells telescopes with welding glass screw on eyepiece solar filters. That way I might be able to afford a Losmandy Titan EQ Mount.

Having damaged my right eye when a teen using one of these filters,

Adrian did you get any compo?
And yes they should be looking thru their own filters on a sunny day.
Then they will find out what it is to be blind in one eye.

Mill,
No, this happened back in the early 70's.
Never told Mum & Dad at the time, as they would have freaked!
Just happy that I can still see fairly well, and just got on with it.
Strangely enough, my night vision is very good, but I squint badly in daylight.
