Jupiter for JJnettie

Hi Jnettie
I'm confused by your comments but assume that you feel more can be done to the image than what I submitted? Attached are the images: Raw is one frame in Registax before processing. and the second after processing saved to Photoshop and the third after it had been increased in size. I found that I could not process it as I would a moon recording. I must add here that the conditions were terrible. I had set up to record the next phase of the moon but gave it away as hopeless and having tried to capture Jupiter before with no success, I was thrilled to have succeeded even though I realised it wouldn't be great. I guess I shoudn't have submitted it.

Thanks for showing those images of Jupiter. It allows me to make sense of the images I'm producing at present. I usually end up with an image similar to the first one you show when I take the shutter speed higher than about 1/250. When I take an image at 1/125 I usually get one of the bars running across the planet. When I lower the shutter speed below 1/125th I start to get evidence of a second bar and a slightly pinkish hue can be seen. If I try to lower it much below 1/100th in shutter speed I start get a fuzzy ball that reminds me of Groucho on Sesame Street. It goes fuzzy because I don't have a clock drive to compensate for the Earths rotation.

Dennis,
I'm sorry if I came across all wrong. Don't ever think that you shouldn't post an image.
I'm not an expert at this stuff so have no right to criticise anyones work.
Because I'm still learning to process images, I like to practice as much as possible. Thats all.
Thanks for posting the extra images.

I too have not made myself clear , Sorry Jjnettie . I had visions of seeing my Jupiter processed by you into an acceptable image! I loved your honist reply and lass, at my age that's important. As for imaging Jupiter, it was my very first success getting it onto the computer screen, it gave me a wonderful thrill, and with Mick's comments of my moon shot, I got carried away, but from your comments and Uchtungbaby's, I'm happy that I did submit it and the added shots. That is something IIS has brought home to me, the terriffic friendly, helpfull replies. It is without doubt a great organisation, thanks to Mick Salway's efforts.
Jjanettie, the illuminated finderscope and the laser pointer finder I have made and fitted made it possible for getting the planet onto the computer screen. Both have made viewing and digital imaging with the Toucam a pleasure. I've spent hours trying to find objects one reads about, and finally dragging the scope back indoors frustrated to the point of asking myself, WHY OWN A TELESCOPE?
I have had thoughts of making a larger scope, until I read Ken from Snake Valley's comments. I wish you all the best with your viewing and imaging. It takes much learning to get results, but that is what makes the game so interesting and like Mick wrote, "When it all comes together it is rewarding."
