Toucam Capture delay. Why is it so?

Recording the moon with the Toucam I experience an annoying problem. Try opening Capture for the next recording (thar has been saved as per instructions) under approx 20 to 30 seconds delay, the computer will display a message central to the screen with a warning beep, "cannot compress etc."
Is this common to the Toucam? Is there a time factor required to down load the recorded information before the capture window will re open?

Can't help Dennis as I've never seen that warning or had that problem.

But, I do have another problem with my Toucam capture at the moment. Hopefully someone can solve both our problems at the same time.

My problem is when I open Vlounge, the imaging area stays black! I click on 'Start Capture' and the image appears for a split second, then goes black again!!!!

The Avi gets saved with the object in it, but I can't see it to focus etc. Just a black box. Wierd huh!

Try resizing the window (bigger window, I mean)... I had that problem with some AVI files.

Ken, when we told you to keep pushing the envolope, we expected you to know when to stop !

Sorry guys I've never come across these problems, have you guys installed something recently on the machine and that's causing a conflict?
Try the toucams on another machine maybe?

My older, under-powered laptop used to do this. It had 64Mb of RAM and a slow old disk drive that bottlenecked the video streaming rate to such a degree that it stopped like yours is. Is yours a reasonably powerful machine or an oldie that you've relegated to outdoor duties like I did?

Cheers
Chris

An oldie! But it's only just started doing it.

I always use the largest window. I went up and down in size too, just to see. Nothing helped.

Just as well I rarely use Avi's. 99% of what I do is still frames in 'Desire'.

Duncan,

It appears that I have lost image in 1420 mode. All I can get to work is IYUV mode. What is wierd is that I have lost 1420 mode in both 'Desire' and Vlounge!!!

It ain't the Bios setting for the parallel port as I unplugged it and the problem persists.

Hi Ken,
Did you read all about the problem and solution in that link? Following is an excerpt.

In K3CCDTools I selected port 03BC because a previous experience taught me that whatever program was messing with the settings of the parallel ports, 03BC was not interfered with.
In spite of my K3CCDTools setting at port 03BC the problems persisted. Obviously my system was not 'listening' to my K3CCDTools setting, but used port 0278/0378 instead.
Then a thought entered my mind: my laptop had been to a shop for repairs and maybe those guys had done something to my BIOS settings?
I fired up the CMOS/BIOS settings and noticed that the parallel ports were in AUTO select mode. I quickly modified the setting from AUTO to 03BC and my problems are over!!!

Some of the problem sounded similar to what you were experiencing. When i read it , i thought of you guys straight away. I was hoping it would help. I'm only new at all of this,LOL.
Cheers

Yep, read through it completely, hoping it held the answer, but I don't even know what a '03BC' is

I can't fix what I don't know. I am not computer savvy.

Sounds like one of the port names. However it does sound like some other programme is iterferring. You might have to go through it all and change from auto selecting a port to naming one. Some of the other guys in here might be able to guide you better when they read all this. As i said, Isanewbie,LOL
Hope you get it sorted quickly.
Duncan
