Confused

I have a Sky-Watcher 12in Dobsonian SynScan GoTo but owingt to ill health it has only been outside 2 or 3 times so i'm thinking of getting a celestron nexstar 8se to save space and it wouldn'd be so hard to move around and in nz they are about the same price.
Anyone have any thoughts on it?

Hi

My guess is that you'll find the celestron equally hard to set up or move around.

Do you have wheels on your current scope? If not, consider adding them.

I’ve owned both- the 12” newt gave me some of the most beautiful bright views but such a pain getting it in and out each night. Really needs a scope trolley to make it easier to roll in and out. The 8se is super portable and easy to use and gives ok views- a bit of a jack of all trades but not really going to blow you away especially after looking thru the 12”. GOTO performance and stability not so great (especially with heavy eyepieces).
