Full moon last night but beggars can’t be choosers ay? Turned the c14 / eq8 to some targets making use of the l-extreme filter. I’m still working on some issue with my oag that’s been making life really difficult but decided to make the most of it anyway.
Ive had a couple of looks at this bright but very small PN visually but decided to point the c14 (0.63 reducer) / asi2600mc at it and see what happens. Livestacked with ASIAIR Pro and stretch and levels in PSexpress.
I only got 32x 30sec subs so may well revisit it, but I see there’s not that many images of this at all so thought I’d share just in case anyones interested.
That’s a fine effort for 15mins on a tiny dim planetary nebula with that big scope under Bortle 7 skies and a full moon
Well done on a difficult target !!
I’m down south at my Dome for a couple of weeks and last night here was horrible seeing with heavy dew
I did a run on Carina and my PHD2 Multistar guiding was saw toothing at 1.30 to 1.40 total arc sec error. Stars were round but bloated
Tonight on the same object I’m guiding at 0.43 to 0.51 total , seeing much better and no dew around , there’s a very light nor’easter.Stars are pinpoint
Boy what a difference from one night to the next
Using my L Extreme as well , tremendous OSC NB filter !!
High wispy cloud is approaching soon so might call it a night in 15mins
Cheers
Martin
Thanks Martin I’m glad you liked it! I had a lot of fun just zooming around a bunch of little PNs that night. I also did some short exposure imaging of the Homunculus Nebula and was able to get a heap of detail in the lobes and surrounding emissions.
I was surprised I couldn’t find many shots of the Blue PN on these forums - hence why I decided to post this one. Might inspire a few other efforts
Yes I know what you mean- I was guiding at 0.3-0.5 on Saturday and then last night it was the opposite for me. But my real issue at the moment is getting and locking onto a good guide star with my celestron oag with the c14. When I get a good guide star the mount guides exceptionally well. If not, I’m all over the place. Still some trouble shooting to be done on this…
