Is it Just Me

Is it just me .. or is the Moon traversing a more than normal Northerly path this time of year. Well looking from Melbourne.

,Funny I looked last night and actually thought such but that could not be happening and went inside... look up something ... But it would not surprise me just something else unexpected...I think the Earth may be tilting due to to much weight in the Northern hemisphere caused by a back up in goods waiting export to Africa Australia and South America.
What else could it be.

Yes, the Moon has changed orbit. Haven't you seen this recent documentary?

Seriously, the Earth is shedding tidal energy to the Moon, pushing it away by about 3-4cm per year. But it's orbital inclination is relatively fixed to the Earth's orbital plane. As observed from Earth, its apparent north south range can vary with the ecliptic which is varying primarily with Earth's axial nutation and precession [26000 yr period]. So nothing to note on human lifetime scales.

Enjoy the planets while you can. Jupiter will soon spend several years down there in the north with Saturn to follow.

I've been wondering why it doesn't seem as sharp as it was when I got my first scope, but it is about 3 metres further away than it was then; or I suppose it could be that my eyes have deteriorated a bit over the yrs.
