Check with the airline. You don’t want to be all packed and turned away as I don’t think the reason that “Someone on IceInSpace said it was OK” will cut it.

Baggage details are readily available on the airlines web sites. They can differ.

Now now Alex thanks guys, I don't fly much and the booking stuff seemed pretty confusing, "it doesn't take much these days" anyway I have a few months to figure it out.

The cheaper the flights or airliner the fewer options you will get, 1 carry on and 1 at 23kilo's with Virgin discounts etc.

You can always spend a commission fee at a travel agent and they will work through all your options.

Sage advice, spend a few pennies an save pounds. Use a recognised travel agent and they’ll work through all the issues.

Read the fine print on your ticket - its all spelled out there.

It is well worth checking because the limits - esp cabin luggage - differ for regional airlines vs the big ones. And if you're on a little plane it all goes in the hold, though I don't think they mind how many bags - it's all about the takeoff weight and the balance fore/aft.

Several times we travel as a family and we pay for 45kgs of luggage - they don't care how many bags its in as long as the total is under this, though a bag over 15kg is likely to have a HEAVY tag added to warn the baggage handlers.

Otherwise poor things might do themselves an injury. Though once I did travel to Tasmania with a bag weighing 55kg, in the days when the limit was defined by the sum of the dimensions in cm. They did ask what was inside... as the lady at the counter couldn't shift it LOL...
