Messier 25 - Open Cluster in Scorpius

Open clusters are nice fun objects to grab occasionally and are great time fillers whilst waiting for the main image target to get high enough. This is a quick 'grab and go' data set that I've been squirrelling away for the past couple of months.

M25 is a nice bright open cluster in Scorpius. The cluster is comprised of approximately 600 stars and is about 2,000 light years from Earth.

A bit over 2 hours per channel, RGB only and processing in Pixinsight.

Link to image on Astrobin here.

Clear skies,
Rodney

Not to bad for a quickie!

That's the good thing about clusters.

Well done Rodney

Thanks Peter, yep - lots of shorts subs and saves wasting good dark sky time.

Gee whiz Andy, you are right. Look what I found lurking underneath the top pixel layer when I started examining the image

Very good Paul. Open clusters don’t necessarily have that ‘wow’ factor but I still like to grab one occasionally.
