Australian Dollar
The Australian Dollar has risen to its highest level in seventeen years.

Why are telescope prices not dropping in price to reflect this surge in the Australian Dollar?
Cheers

It's a good time to order from overseas though.

Yep. Very true Leon. As much as we'd like to support the local vendors, a saving is a saving

It is just a pity that the postage from overseas is so screaming high

I was recently quoted US$24 freight on a very small and very light item, a near identical item from a different source was quoted at US$5.99
I had expected somewhere slightly in between to be honest, the US$24 has me very baffled I must admit.

Yeah. That seems a bit stiff, Steve.
I've found most items of general eyepiece size/weight attract around $10US postage.
The most I've paid (for a heavy Moonlite SCT electric focuser) was $20US

what amazes me even more is that more often than not US orders arrive faster than local ones
As Paulene Hanson would say: "Please explain"
