This year's installment from yours truly of an o'ft imaged object but in a less common "up-close-and-personal" view.

This is a centre crop at about 60% res of a much wider field which I'll likely upload in due course.

The RGB data FWHM's proved problematical to blend with the much tighter h-alpha stuff I bagged earlier this year.

No de-con applied. Combantrin was not required.

I hope you enjoy the view: the link is here

Thanks Marcus...all this talk elsewhere of "processing worms" had me worried.

I had the Vermox handy....just in case.

Here is the technique used to check for worms ...

Holy guacamole Batman. Amazing detail and great colour. The resolution is just so far above the average image.

Thanks guys.

I'll likely tweak/clean up the data a tad more (for starters, I did not have accurate flats until tonight)... but your encouragement makes me think I'm on the right track.

P.S.
Wash your hands. One must avoid processing worms at all times.

It almost makes for a completely different object at that focal length. Great image Peter

Stunning image Peter!

I'd love to own an Alluna scope one-day.

Thanks. I like the perspective of long FL images. Not many people are imaging at +3000mm as it certainly taxes your imaging train, and you are at the mercy of the seeing most nights. The data set for this image is not optimum...FWHM's are a little bloated which I hope to trim over the next few nights

Wonderful details and an unusual closeup view Peter!
Was wondering why there are light haloes around the brightest stars?
Nice to see a fresh view of a familiar target

Ta Andy...the halos are a less than perfect attempt to marry the chubby RGB FWHM's to the skinny H-alpha set.... but in my defense, at least they are not dark cyan rings....with worms

Terrific detail and beautifully rendered colour. This close-up framing really would look spectacular as a really large print

Thanks guys...I managed to get some more RGB and Halpha data a couple of nights back, it should tidy this one up nicely (as Andy pointed out, the H-alpha blend was less than perfect). I'll update the image in due course at the same URL.

It's come up very nicely Peter, I'd be interested to see a straight up RGB version. Try as a I might, without Ha I cannot come close to that level of contrast with a boring ol' OSC
