I have not done much observering lately. I went away for 2 months late last year and come back just in time for the wet season.

Rainfall in Cairns from 1st January to 30th April was: 1628.8mm.

I was looking forward to May, but it has also been raining today.

I think you're being optimistic just blocking Jan-April. I have written off the whole period from about October to late May. Recent years have been getting progressively worse.
If it isn't cloud, it's wind or extreme heat - so much so that atmospheric turbulence - even on a clear night, really makes the effort of opening the observatory a waste of time.
I have become reconciled to having a short astro season from late May to September. Beyond that, it's been a waste of time.

A few days into May and we have had 3 clear nights in Cairns:- more than the entire Jan to April.

Unfortunately, the stars are twingling badly, but I have enjoyed just going outside and eyeballing the constellations. It like my old friends are back again!

Tonight should be the 6th consecutive clear all-night SE QLD with no/little moon. It's been fantastic ! I can't remember having such a good run in recent times.

That would be right...each month I head North with all the gear, set it up and enjoyed mostly poor conditions and because this dark I am crook its clear here and up there...so I cant take advantage unfortunately.

Thank you Carlton but I am in Sydney with a whole 20 degrees of sky☺.
So some old images are getting a reprocess.
I ventured out yesterday to pick up my Asiair ZWO wifi but I am so unmotivated I dont even feel like setting it up...that could be different if I knew what to do☺...

Sounds a fair bit worse that what it's like here at my flat. What I get to play with is about 35 degrees of alt, and about 60 degrees az.

So some old images are getting a reprocess.

When you have a limited available field of view, and you're seeing the same stuff you saw the previous nights, yeah, it can become disheartening and dull, when you're hoping to see something new and interesting.
I really hope you can find something to rekindle your enjoyment in astronomy, Alex.

According to Welsh ( WALES UK) weather we have had NO clear nights for three months and it continues for at least another three weeks
