Takahashi FS78 f8 for Astrophotography?

Does anyone out there have any experience using one of these for Astrophotography?

Suitability, issues... great results??

Or should I just keep a lookout for a fast Triplet at a good price?

Thanks in advance

Bump...

Surely someone out there can comment.. if not specifically on the FS78, maybe something of similar aperture & focal ratio... f8 I think...

Cheers

It’s a doublet - not perfect for imaging but capable. Certainly better image than 95% of the Chinese doublets and probably 65% of Chinese triplets.

An Esprit 80 triplet for example is slightly better colour corrected but it’s not as sharp.

Thanks Lewis,

What are the implications of it being f8 vs say, an f6. I understand that exposure times would be longer with a slower scope but, are there any other pitfalls I should consider?

Cheers
