Another First Light f/5 Newt

I finally got the chance to take my new newt out to the dark site to give it a run.

While my fiance was starting her astro career with her camera (see other post) I decided to do the Carinea Nebula too with my newt.

101 x 40s @ISO1600
Canon 5d
Vixen f/5 Newtonian

p.s. - yes I've seen the coma and I've cropped a reasonable amount out already. Eww

Nice image of Eta Carinae with your f5 newt
It’s a favourite amongst us newbies as it’s easy to find, it’s around 120’ wide and really bright at around magnitude 3.0
I’m going to wait until February when it’s higher in the sky early in the evening
I’m a newt man through and through !!
Looking at upgrading in April to a 8” f5 newt on a NEQ6-R mount
Keep up the great work !!
By the way what is your scopes aperture , 5” 6” 8” ??

The Newt is a 5". This is my first go with a newt. I'm a bit of a SCT fan my self but I like what the newt is giving me.

My next upgrade I think will be an 8" SCT.

Ummm.... Yeah.

Every OTA I have has it's issues and it's just a question of which to fix first. Lol
