In the beginning, Mike created Iceinspace

started playing with http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=6 by putting in t=1, t=2, t=3 and seeing what the first real astro thread was.

I was also interested to see who the first guys were and how they first came to the forum......just wondering if there was a thread called "Hi I'm Paul, but you can call me 1ponders, i like dobs, but my mates tell me that SCT's are pretty good....."

I will keep browsing and reviewing the birth of IIS....

same person also said

"I have been into astronomy for about a year and half now, and having the luxury of not having someone to tell me how to spend my pay I have collected the following :

GSO 250mm f5 dobsonian ,just like yours iceman and with the following enhancements:"

any idea......................

"Other stuff:

Went for a picnic with the family on the weekend at Brooklyn (Hawkesbury river), and was taking some happy snaps with the Sony DSCP100, and I left it on top of the stroller, un-beknowns to my wife who was pushing it...

Anyway 15 minutes later I asked where the camera was, it was gone..

last one from New Zealand

" Hi all, and thanks for inviting me into this exalent site. I will opoligies just this once for my imaginative spelling. I wish to offer some advise to the biginer. As a senier member of the Ward Observatory's control board. Nothing is more pleasing than to see a young person viewing for the first time through a high quality teliscope. This sort of instroment is beond the budget of most of us. I would encorage you to join a local observatories club, and join in the splendour of the skies at reasonable cost to your self. But dont be put off by a bunch of stuffy old men. Be persistant and they will welcome you in... mark."

and from Mike in response
"hmm definitely interesting spelling "

But, you didn't answer the fundamental question Dave - was the website created or did it evolve?

Cheers

When you look at the site now it sure has come a long way, not to mention all the meetings and friendships it has also made along the way.

Ah the nostalgia !

I too remember Mikes first images of Saturn What he is capable of now just goes to show what you can do with a lot of perseverence, curse words and lost sleep
