Stolen, please be on the look out

Help,,,,, i just got up to find much of my camera and astronomy gear stolen.
All my macro gear including microscope objectives macro lenses etc.
All my Telescope eyepieces.
Countless adapters & camera gear.
Benro carbon fibre tripod with a Really Right stuff ball head
G-Star camera.
PoleMaster camera and mount
4 cases like in the photo if anyone sees one for sale.
All the gear taken was photography and astronomy gear so it can only be used for that or sold.
Please help, i am in a state of shock.

My God.
How bloody awful.
It's highly specialised. Just make sure the cash converters are kept up to date in your area.
And of course ebay etc.
Hope you find the bloody a $$holes

So sorry to hear that Alan. Obviously go with informing the police first and then I'd definetly go with JenChris' suggestion and look at your local cash converters and similar stores, except that I would look first and then inform them and the police of any find.

Best

I feel and pray for you. If any help, I'd suggest police first asap, if you believe in yours.

Once, the police, UK, returned our goods BEFORE we even knew they were missing (moving house, loading, unloading).

They were already watching the movements in that racket
(stealing racket, not the noise of sighs and grunting and tape-peeling we created).

From recollection, something like....they got our photos and personal effects with address(es) the thief dumped in a public rubbish bin.

'Crime Converters' (aka Cash Converters) are a bit crafty: they have an internal policy that anything of significant value gets shipped for sale at a store that is in a different state to the one the item was delivered to.
This deliberate policy makes it harder for folk to track down their stolen gear.
Dreadful, but that's the reality.

If there was other valuable gear in the spot (observatory?) these were stolen from, be aware that thieves sometimes return for a second trip.

My niece had stuff stolen from her house, then the next week they backed a truck into the drive and emptied the house.

Horrible news Alan. I hope you get your equipment back.

I agree with Dean, chances are the gear might be on its way to a different state. I was also once told by the Police that there are thieves who steal up North and sell down South, steal down South and sell up North.

it's a shame that this stuff happens, but it's probably more worthwhile not posting that it's stolen so it doesn't give the thieves a heads up that you're looking there.
you want them to post or sell the item, not move it further underground where you will have buckleys chance.
if it's listed with the cops .. even being in possession after its sold it's still being in possession of stolen goods and might help you track them down easier
Matt

We occasionally get calls from people wanted to sell 2nd hand gear (we don't). I'll remember to dig a little deeper and ask exactly what they're intending to sell the next time I get another call.

Thieves will know that you're looking for your stolen items anyway, so post away.

Commiserations Al. It's frustrating to read of these occurrences. I wouldn't imagine there are too many "light fingered" astronomers about. That leaves mongrels who have no use for or idea as to what they've gotten, but because it looks expensive they'll nick it. It's gear that's nothing like a chainsaw or a mower you can flog off down at the pub for $20-. Sometimes I remember why I live out in the scrub. R Soles! Shame its not UAE or similar, off with a hand!

Lost a guidescope while doing vendor sales at an event and didn't find out about it till we did a stock take. Told organizing committee about it but they didn't care.

I wouldn't rule light-fingered astronomers out.
